New York: More Than The Big Apple

Central ParkEvery year New York welcome millions of tourists, all there to see the famous buildings, baseball stadiums, Central Park and more. New York is one of the most common tourists destinations for travelers from all over the world. But besides the city center, there is so much more to discover on the outskirts of this great state. There are 11 different regions, and each have something different to offer. Here are a few descriptions of a hand full of the regions, and what you can find there.

President Franklin Roosevelt’s estate in Hyde Park can be found in the Hudson River region, as well as General George Washington’s headquarters. The Hudson Valley wine is also legendary, as well as it’s restaurants. This area has given birth to many important figures, including Thomas Jefferson.

118 miles of beaches can be found in the Long Island region, as well as the historic Montauk Lighthouse, commissioned by George Washington. If you’re up for camping, a great spot is on the beach near Hither Hills State Park, and get up to watch the beautiful sunrise. This region has a rich maritime heritage and also has a national laboratory science museum, as well as a zoo.
